Iliev Dance School Opens October 1st
Marcus Galante (New York), Jazz and Ballet expert, is the first US guest-teacher in the program.
Formal opening: October 1, 5 pm, at the studio.
Classes start on Wednesday, October 5.
It’s been a remarkable nine years here at The Iliev Dance Art foundation. To date, we’ve produced four highly successful educational programs and five full shows – three for children and two for adults. Since 2008, more than 1,000 dancers from Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Romania, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal and the US have participated in the Dance It! Spring and Summer Intensives. More than 50 young talented dancers have received scholarships for summer programs at schools such as Pacific Northwest Ballet School – Seattle, School of Ballet Chicago, Debbie Reynolds Dance Studios – Los Angeles, Kansas City Ballet, Deeply Rooted Dance Threatre – Chicago, Syracuse University – New York and others. Hundreds of children from 3rd to 6th grade studying in public schools in Sofia and vicinity have gotten the chance to experience the magic of dance art, while working with renowned professionals. Our five dance productions have been praised as innovative and ground-breaking. These numbers and facts reflect the incredible commitment of artists, staff, board, audiences and financial supporters to our mission.
Based on this experience and confident in our success, in our 10th Anniversary season, we are opening our own dance school. The school will offer all levels of ballet, jazz, character, hip-hop and Bulgarian folk dances. A special three-hour training block in different dance styles will be offered on Sunday, including contemporary dance.
